If you walk the promenade from Moholmen you will come to the Sea Man towering over Ranfjorden. Erected in 1995 and a victim of vandalism, the 60-ton sculpture has become a beloved symbol for the people of Ranværing. The sculpture caused a lot of debate in the local community, some thought it was an unnecessary waste of money, while others thought it was strange that he was missing his nobler parts. The latter has been fixed via the vandalism I mentioned earlier.
I think the Mermaid is a nice sculpture, guarding Rana and the Ranfjord in all weathers, together with the seagull on his head. It was therefore natural for me to immortalize both of them in poster form.
