I have always had a macabre fascination with shipwrecks, and the sinking of the SS "Andrea Doria" in 1956 was one of the first I can remember hearing about. Referred to as one of the most successful sea rescues ever; the Italian liner SS "Andrea Doria" sank after colliding with the Swedish liner MS "Stockholm" in thick fog on its way to New York. The subsequent rescue operation rescued 1,660 passengers from the sinking ship.

The image shows an artistic recreation of the moment the largest rescue ship, the SS "Île de France" switched on the floodlights on the nameplate, as a signal that help had arrived.

MS "Stockholm" survived the collision, and lives on to this day, now renamed as the cruise ship MS "Astoria".

The poster is printed on paper with matte plastic lamination on both sides, which thus gives the poster a feeling of quality, which lasts over long-term use. Note that the colors may be experienced differently in reality than in the images you see on your PC screen.
